The Department of Law came into existence in 2000 together with the East Yangon University. Department of Law of EYU has a small but dynamic team consisted of 2 Professors including a Head of Department, 1 Associate Professor, 12 Lecturers, 5 Assistant Lecturers and 10 Tutors. The full time of legal education course in the name of LLB degree is being educated in EYU. It became a five-year-full time course of study at the department of law. The bachelor of law degree program is the main vehicle for university legal study at law departments of all universities throughout Myanmar.
Since 2005, 2- year- LLM degree program has been started at Law Department of EYU. Qualified LLB degree holders are admitted to attend this program. The program offers the opportunity to specialize in two different areas: Commercial Law and International Law. Series of workshop and discussion on different areas of law are being conducted with local and foreign legal scholars at Law Department. Currently, Dr. Khin Chit Chit is a Professor and the Head of Law Department at East Yangon University, graduated in LLB, LLM, Ph.D from the University of Yangon.
