The Department of Economics at East University of Yangon has been operating since 2002. Since June 2002, an assistant lecturer has been assigned to the Department of Economics. Since 2002, Economics has been taught as a supporting subject for subjects such as International Relations and Law at East University of Yangon, as well as as a main subject in the Economics and Business Administration majors at the branch of Yangon Distance Learning University. Since the academic year 2024, Environmental Studies, which was opened as an applied subject at East University of Yangon, has also been taught as a supporting subject in the second year.
