The Department of Geology was established in 2000. The Master of Science degree program was launched in 2011.

The primary services offered are;

1. Petrographic Analysis

The sophisticated Metkon GEOFORM 102  rock cutting machines enable us to prepare thin rock chips. With the aid of Forcipol 102 grinding and polishing machine, the rock chips can further be prepared into polished sections to identify the ore mineral components and their textural relationship which could lead to deciphering the ore forming phases of an ore deposit, and thin-sections for the quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis of the constituent minerals of a rock. Our analysis includes complete descriptions, mineralogical abundance determinations, and accompanying photomicrographs to support comprehensive characterization of the sample.
