The Department of Mathematics was established in East Yangon University since 1999. The first dean of the Department of Mathematics at East Yangon University was Daw Myint Myint Khaing, who served as dean from 1999 to 2005. Our department offers programs in Mathematics leading to BSc, BSc (Honours), BSc (Q), and MSc degrees. The Mathematics Department has produced an outstanding all-round first year student representing East Yangon University for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
Day
Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree generally takes four years (8 semesters) for completions. Honours Bachelor of Science degree (BSc Honours) takes five years (10 semesters). Qualified Students who eligible to attend master course are allowed to continue their studies for two years (4 semesters). So, they take altogether seven years to complete MSc degree.

For the distance education programme, the department offers undergraduate program of study leading to a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Mathematics.

In the basic education sector, refresher courses are provided to basic education teachers to develop the subject of mathematics in KG+12. In order to develop the human resources needed for the country, BSc, BSc(Hons) and BSc(Q) degrees are awarded for mathematics. MSc degrees are awarded to develop the new generation of teachers and researchers in Mathematics.
The Department of Mathematics aims
- to become one that can effectively share mathematical knowledge and experience with other departments in need
- to be actively engaged and collaborate with the International Mathematical Society
- to provide high-quality education in undergraduate and graduate mathematics
- to help all students develop a positive identity as mathematics learner and see themselves as mathematically skilled, to support them as they use mathematics to make sense to world
